New Anime

Hello! Man, this place is all clean and new and stuff. Just like a newly opened toy!

Speaking of toys, a friend of mine went to Japan. He bought some stuff for me, I will upload the pictures later, but this is what he got:

Dark Saber figurine
normal Saber, gashapon style
Hashii (chop sticks!)
a really cool wallscroll with some japanese art in it. the fabric used is amazing.
an original Sagittarius figurine with actual metal armor. I <3 that
an animation cell from Kekkaishi
Kekkaishi trading cards
Heroic Age animation cell
Scorpio Milo gashapon figurine
a sake holder with two little cups
a bunch of keychains
like, 4 mangas o.O
all in all, a total of about $150 bucks, which isn't bad considering the dark saber figurine alone costs about 100 but he got it for 45

now, for anime you need to watch out for!

Moyashimon is freaking HILARIOUS. not to mention highly educational! and original!

Spice and Wolf (ookami to koushinryou): the OP theme alone had me from the get-go. slice of life type of anime, but with enough fantasy to keep you entertained

Clannad has been an anime that went under the radar for me for a while. I have fixed that. it's pretty good -- the funny and sad moments are both equally intense.

H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~ is another anime I've been enjoying. Kind of disturbing though, as there's some violence -- like, guys punching a girl's face. the thing is, there's some communities in either japan or around the world, where you're treated like dirt and beaten. anyway, there's a LOT of fanservice on this one, so it kind of evens out. a little.

Hatenkou Yuugi and Persona - trinity soul - got my attention as far as eye candy goes, but besides that, meh.

naruto and bleach have both gone to hell so I go manga only with it.

There's also a new Macross in the making. I saw ep 1 and OMG, it hit all the right buttons ( yay for puns!)

I'm also re-enrolling for Japanese tomorrow, I need to get brushed up on it

I'm rather impressed with Spice and Wolf so far, and I can't really wrap my mind around why. 06 FEB is the release date for Tabi no Tochū (Natsumi Kiyoura). Best OP and one of the best songs I've heard in a long time, though Ash like Snow (the brilliant green - MS Gundam 00) is another new one that's a very close second. I've been watching Clannad (and Rental Magica) simply because I've been following the Eclipse sub of Shakugan no Shana Second. The Kotomi part has been interesting though I didn't like the Fuko/crazy starfish girl part that took up what seemed like most of the first half of the season. Rental Magica is nothing to get excited about but a decent chaser. Shana has been rather... hesitant, to get anywhere until this past week. I think I still watch it only because Ayako Kawasumi has a larger role in it this time around. But then I'll pretty much watch anything with her in it.

My nomination for the best anime of last year goes to ef - a tale of memories. Anyone else see that one?

Let me see... I had real troubles downloading the first season of Shakugan no Shana and the movie. So much so that while I am getting the second season, I've not watched any of it yet.

I did watch Claymore, despite the main male character being complete disappointment... I did like watching a female dominated show that wasn't magical girls. It was interesting to see the various female personalities clash mentally and emotionally without any cute love and hugs at the end. I wasn't thrilled with the ending, but overall I did like it.

I watched Ichigo Mashimaro, right before I started Claymore. Downloaded it on a whim even though I didn't like the art style...overly plain and basic, but it fit the story. I loved the deadpan, dry-wit humor. A lil goth mixed with a lil cute in my opinion.

I've downloaded Code Gease, but have yet to watch it.

I've actually been watching more anime on tv than online. Upon getting digital cable on black Friday I now get two asian channels. I get AZN and Imaginasian TV. I've been watching IATV most. I watched Moon Phase, Paradise Kiss, and Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales. New series started this week Elemental Gelade (I love Ren, the cold aloof main female character), Gankutsuou ~The Count Of Monte Cristo~ (Not thrilled with the art style), and Law Of Ueki.

Besides that I watch Korean and Taiwanese dramas. Couple or Trouble and Princess Hours are the Korean ones I'm watching. It Started with a Kiss is Taiwanese and I really like that one. I downloaded the OST. I keep mixing up which ones are Korean and which are Taiwanese in my head. I know It Started with a Kiss has a second season showing right now so I've something else to look forward to.
