Re: So seriously, I may have just seen the best movie ever.

[font=Arial]Maybe if I died and was survived by my truck I'd let someone else drive it. Maybe. I like your definition of furloughs. Days employees are off without getting paid. Welcome to the non-union private sector. Its only when you work for the government that you get paid for not actua...

Re: So seriously, I may have just seen the best movie ever.

Fair. Leaving Colorado for a couple months. New job. Utah is the first stop, then parts unknown after two weeks. Probably will be back in Colorado by the end of the year, and hopefully moving out of Colorado shortly thereafter. Depends on the job. If I need to go back east, I'll probably retur...

Re: So seriously, I may have just seen the best movie ever.

Huh. Its been completely under my radar. The only film I've seen lately of any note was The Expendables. It was f'ing awesome. For all the reasons it needed to be. Simple story, basic dialogue, a bunch of toughs beating the shit out of each other, and blowing shit up. And then going back throu...

Re: Status Update

[font=Arial] A grasshopper walks into a bar. The bartender looks up and says, "Hey! We have a drink named after you!" The grasshopper, slightly confused, replies, "Really? You have a drink named Bob?" Hm. Its coming up on four months since I moved out west (for the what, fo...

Re: Update

[font=Arial]Still strikes me as something of a cop-out. There is no great secret behind how to live as an adult, etc. She might be jealous, but not jealous enough to use as a motivation to change anything. It'd be like me sitting on my ass here in Atlanta bitching about low employment and the lac...

On the road, again.

[font=Arial] An opportunity has come up and once again I'm on the move. Fortunately everything I own fits nicely into my truck and I'm in a position to drop what I have here in Georgia (which isn't much) and move to Colorado. As it currently stands I'll be heading out on 15 MAR. I'll likely be pr...

Re: Update

[font=Arial] Well that gives me more time to find something to wear. oO Seriously though. If you two are going to get married, then go and get married already. You're in the envious position of being in close proximity to your significant other, and you've clearly determined she is the significa...

Couldn't agree with you more! Smart-assery aside, congratulations. No photos? Not that I'm one to talk there.

Re: Ahoy.

[font=Arial]What, leave the great state of Ohio? I spent entirely too much of 2008 there. Finished with university, etc... congratulations on that. Where are you looking to move to? I'm planning a move myself, but that's another post so as not to hijack yours. In any case its nice to hear from ...

Re: The Scott Heard Round the World and the Book of Awesome

I don't have the stats in front of me but off the top of my head its something like ~9% of the US population has served in the military, yet ~60% of the nation's homeless are veterans. The Viet Nam veteran issue should have been a wake-up call, and its only a taste of what's to come in my opinion. ...

Re: The Scott Heard Round the World and the Book of Awesome

(I will toss an aside here: Health care is NOT a right.....you will find NO provision in the Constitution ANYWHERE allowing such action But on the other hand, i DO think some legislation is needed to address issues like pre-existing conditions, and allowing insurance companies to sell across state...

Re: The Scott Heard Round the World and the Book of Awesome

I'm surprised that neither of you mentioned Mad Max. It's probably the most likely possibility in comparison to the other movies mentioned. Then there was the Road Warrior films with Mel Gibson. To answer your other question(s), I would say a combination of Number One and my own selfish honing...

Re: The Scott Heard Round the World and the Book of Awesome

I believe it was Danny Glover that made the comment regarding climate change and the failure of the Copenhagen dog-and-pony show a few weeks ago. A conclusion no doubt drawn from his extensive career in geology and climatology. Who knows? Maybe he'll be a candidate for the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize....

Re: The Scott Heard Round the World and the Book of Awesome

Apparently there was another quake in Haiti this morning. I haven't heard anything further as to the aftermath of that one, but I've also largely been tuning the bullshit out for the day. Bureaucracy at its finest. I can't help but remember the way certain elements of the American demographic wer...

The Scott Heard Round the World and the Book of Awesome

So Scott Brown wins the vote in Massachusetts. The seat that was supposedly "Ted Kennedy's," although I was under the distinct impression the seat belonged to the people of Massachusetts (silly, naive, Constitutionalist me!). The ever-drooling Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) claims this will &q...
